motorcycle 2011

Yamaha aims to launch electric motorcycles by 2010 with a range of 100 km (60 miles) on a single charge, comparable to those with 50cc engine displacements, the paper said.

Honda, the world s top motorcycle maker, will launch lithium-ion battery electric motorcycles in 2011, targeting customers such as Japan Post Service that may switch its fleet of about 90,000 motorbikes to electric models, it said. Reuters.

The Japanese company Axle Corporation already created a new model of electric powered motorbike named EV-X7:

Yamaha has adopted a rather cautious strategy for 2010 and the FZ1 is definitely one of their sports motorcycles to show that very clearly as it comes with revised ECU mapping and new colors. Yet, they plan on successfully selling it for being “an upright R1” and that couldn’t recommend this model more.

Motorcycle Style - The 2010 Yamaha YZF-R1

Yamaha makes motorcycles with exciting and sharp design. The motorcycle takes on a more aggressive form up front with its headlight arrangement. The motorcycle itself remains one of the sharpest-looking bikes on the road. As with my Car Style blog entries, I'm only talking about how a machine LOOKS, rather than performance and reviews. If you're looking for a review on how a bike performs or something, look elsewhere. This is strictly about how bikes look.

--- Motorcycle Style: The 2010 Yamaha YZF-R1 ---

^ from: paultan.org

The front of the bike is sharply styled, but I do miss the clean headlight design of the R1 between 2000 and 2008. I do miss the headlight design with the lights encased into glass. But as I mentioned, it doesn't look ugly. The side mirrors and windscreen are styled cleanly and beautifully. Two leaf-shaped signal lights are a nice touch up front. The sides of the latest R1 has sharp and fierce style. This bike may not have as much body work as the Ducati Desmosedici RR in a previous blog entry, but everything is still styled beautifully. The bike has two big exhaust pipes. Nice wheels and grippy tires compliment this fierce demon.

The bike's instrument display is very cleanly styled. You'll feel like you're piloting this thing in AMA Superbike, World Superbike, the Isle of Man TT, MotoGP, or whatever your favorite motorcycle road racing series is. The gauge indicates a redline of about 13,800 rpm with a max of about 15,000 rpm. There is a digital speedometer with a racing-spec digital readout.

Motorcycle Style - The Ducati Desmosedici RR

My favorite motorcycles are from Ducati. I equate Ducati to motorcycles like Ferrari to cars. Ducati makes some sexy motorcycles, some even with amazing sounds. One of the loveliest Ducatis to date is the Desmosedici RR. Even if you can't say "Desmosedici" properly, you can at least admit this bike is very hot. And... oh yeah, it costs about $72,000 USD. So be VERY careful this bike doesn't get owned (pwn3d) in a crash.

Motorcycle Style - The 2009 Honda CBR1000RR/Fireblade

This post will mark the debut of a new addition to my style chats. This time instead of cars, I'll try and talk about motorcycles. I'm always one to feel that motorcycles can be just as fun as cars, but not as many people love motorcycles as much as they love cars. I'll be talking about how motorcycles are styled to me. I don't know everything there is to know about motorcycles (namely motorcycle parts). So my comments will be limited.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX

Made for Wheelies

You have to love Kawasaki’s rationale for improving their already blisteringly-quick 2008 ZX-10R: Give the new components to Kawasaki’s Japanese Superbike rider Akira Yanagawa, have him thrash them to destruction in Japan’s super competitive All Japan Superbike series, any bits that pass the test then get given to the production test team, tweaked, adjusted and generally improved upon, then they are handed back to Yanagawa for more testing.

So, if you don’t like this year’s ZX-10, talk to Yanagawa, although from where I’m sitting, there’s not much wrong with it. Yanagawa himself gave it glowing reviews after his first test ride.

So what’s new for 2008? Pretty much everything actually. A new engine for starters, which includes secondary fuel injectors, oval throttle bodies and reshaped intake ports. A new exhaust system and ram air ducts to increase intake flow. A slipper clutch and improved gear ratios allow more aggressive down shifting and better power delivery.

And to go with the new engine is an all-new frame setup including a new two piece sub frame, a new swing arm (pressed instead of cast) longer steering tube, and increased strength to the main frame by using increased wall thicknesses, and changes to the frame stampings.

New forks, new rear shock, bigger, thinner brake discs and new wheels that are squeeze cast, whatever that is. And to top it all, a complete new styling package.

Cheetah V8 Chopper SS Motorcycle Trike Bike

Cheetah V8 Trikes

Cheetah V8 Chopper SS Motorcycle Trike Bike

Cheetah Trikes are manufactured in Charlestown, Indiana by Tom and Chilita Walters. Safety is one of the reasons they chose the three-wheel design for the “Cheetah Chopper”. The “Cheetah Chopper” is very sporty and stylish, with a commanding look and smooth, effortless power. They only use materials such as marine-grade aluminum and 304 stainless steel to assure sturdiness, durability, and reliability. Cheetah Trikes draws on 35 years of trike building, with safety and stability of ride a primary goal. The brand name is “Cheetah” because it is a sleek and nimble bike.

Cheetah Trikes are available standard with a V8 full automatic and a real reverse. Cheetah’s radiator is located in the rear and expels heat behind the trike. Radiators are located in the front of most motorcycles and trikes, and they expel very hot air back onto the riders. This can be uncomfortable and is often considered a bonus for Cheetah riders.

Drysdale V8 Motorcycles

Drysdale V8 Motorcycle

Drysdale V8 Motorcycle

The Drysdale V8 is an Australian designed and made ’superbike’ class motorcycle. It was designed to be a road legal motorcycle that performs and handles like a full factory team race bike but with the smoothness that only a V8 can deliver.

The Drysdale V8 has been designed and predominately built by Ian Drysdale – a Melbourne, Australia based motorcycle enthusiast who runs a general engineering business – building specialist one-off machines for the television, car manufacturing and canning industries . He last came to notice in 1990 with an experimental 2 wheel drive – hydraulic drive motorcycle called ‘DRYVTECH’.

Ian Drysdale’s motorcycle designs draw inspiration from the Moto Guzzi V8 500 Grand Prix racer of the 1950’s, as well as the frame and fairing also being influenced by the Bimota and Ducatis of the early 1980’s as well as modern Moto Guzzis. Ian Drysdale also draws influence from the the efficiency and reliability of modern Japanese motorcycles. He aims to combine these elements to build something beautiful, unique and extremely fast.

Boss Hoss American CC V8 Motorcycle

Boss Hoss American CC V8 Motorcycle

Boss Hoss Cycles, Inc. was started in 1990 when Monte Warne, the founder and president of Boss Hoss Cycles, Inc., created his Chevy V-8 powered motorcycle in in Dyersburg, TN. Monte, a commercial aircraft pilot and Aviation Airframe and Power plant technician, was the first to design a V-8 powered motorcycle that has a traditional cruiser motorcycle look and feel. He did this with a unique approach single speed (one gear) transmission design. The right angle drive transmission allows the length of the bike to be kept to a minimum and the engine-mounting inline with the frame made for a well-balanced design that is unequaled by any other V-8 powered motorcycles.

Boss Hoss Cycles, Inc. has grown to include three wheeled V8 trikes. Boss Hoss Cycles have features such 2-speed transmission with reverse, inverted front suspension, vacuum formed body panels, investment cast structural frame components, and many other specially designed components. These improve the rigidity and ride.
